In the Mail...

Today, I received a copy of Karen Jobes' Letters to the Church: A Survey of Hebrews and the General Epistles (Zondervan). Once again, Zondervan has produced a beautiful book. I have always been of the opinion that Zondervan produces the most aesthetically pleasing books. It is evident that Jobes, The Gerald F. Hawthorne Chair of New Testament Greek and Exegesis at Wheaton College, has maintained the high standard of excellence with which Zondervan's recent production of surveys has attained. This beautiful survey consists of full-color photos, maps, illustrations, charts, what I call snapshot quotes, outlines of each of these epistles, along with highlights of their respective themes. She spends the first part on Hebrews, consisting of four chapters (22-143); Part two, chapters 5-8, looks at James (147-232), and Jude (233-266); part three (267-353) is spent on Peter's epistles, and finally, part four covers the Johannine epistles (354-437).

I look forward to delving into this volume a bit more in the weeks and months to come.
